Operations and maintenance services

Operating and maintaining existing clean energy projects represents a growing part of the U.S. clean energy industry and offers new business opportunities for the American clean power workforce.

Operations and Maintenance: A burgeoning clean energy field.

As clean energy projects have expanded rapidly over the last decade, running efficient operations and maintenance programs has become a key component of the industry.

Operating and maintaining existing clean energy projects represents a growing part of the U.S. clean energy industry and offers new business opportunities for the American clean power workforce.

When properly maintained and operated, wind turbines and solar panels can provide large amounts of power, cleanly and reliably, at prices competitive with any other new electricity source. Operations and maintenance, safety management systems, and other project reliability activities are critical elements impacting the sector.

Energization Checklist for Clean Energy Sites

ACP鈥檚 committees developed the Energization Checklist to provide guidance to personnel when conducting electrical testing and QA/QC checks during energization. This checklist is intended to ensure critical areas of the process are addressed and provide expectations that address the safety of all site personnel.

Electrical Testing Checklist for Clean Energy Sites

ACP鈥檚 committees developed the Electrical Testing Checklist to provide guidance to personnel who conduct this testing during project construction, commissioning, and operations. It outlines recommended steps, training and qualifications, equipment, and documentation practices for conducting electrical testing.

Splice Body and Termination Playbook

The 麻豆传媒集团 Association (ACP)鈥檚 Wind听Performance Committee developed the Splice Body and Termination Playbook with the intent to provide guidance and analysis for splices at renewable energy facilities. This playbook provides an overview of the types of accessories and couplings that connect to a cable, a failure analysis of lower performance splices, and designs for joint body re-creation.

Gearbox Operations Playbook

The 麻豆传媒集团 Association (ACP)鈥檚 Drivetrain Working Group developed the ACP Gearbox Operations Playbook, with the intent to provide guidance for daytoday operations of wind turbine gearboxes. Common troubleshooting scenarios and solutions will be discussed. The Drivetrain Working Group represents decades worth of expertise and experience, gained from wind and other industry sectors. The group鈥檚 objective is to inform, train and support wind industry technicians, engineers, and managers in their efforts to improve reliability and project performance.

Wind and Solar Underground AC Collection System Cable Testing

Wind and Solar Utility scale projects in North America are typically quite large, with miles of buried cables transmitting energy to and from the substation. Multiple factors can converge to create erratic faults, catastrophic failures, and other maintenance challenges. There are many different types of Cable tests mentioned in the industry literature, but this paper will cover five of the more widely available test methods used in the renewable energy industry to test medium voltage cables.
